Another Pool Skating Adventure in Lost Angeles Summer 2011...
My friend George told me about this pool in ——– and after my usual 10/11 hour work day, I picked up George and we chased the setting sun to check it out. George had previously given me the coordinates but turns out I had scoped out the wrong pool across the street. I was disappointed because the wrong pool looked really good, but the property is occupied and the pool is most likely full(more on that later).
I had not sk8ed a pool since getting injured during the 1st week of January and the first pool I get to sk8 is super gnarly. Harsh, cancer craters, walls of doom, the surface is breaking apart and also peeling apart from wall, facewall and sidewalls have a little kink, and the tiles are broken on the facewall. The coping on the facewall is loose and sticks out quite a bit. Add to that 3.5′ to 4′ feet of vert on the sidewalls, about 3.5 feet of vert on the facewall, cancer dust a-plenty, and the whole pool is lopsided, facewall is uneven, right side is higher. Earthquake damage and the pool has lifted out. I was just stoked to get over the light.
Pretty gnarly, but skateable.
